About Us - Our Mission Statement
The Lower Bucks Lyme Group is being organized to offer a local forum for Lyme Disease sufferers to get to know each other, share their stories and get needed information. We hope our participants will leave our meetings feeling a sense of comfort from knowing that they are not facing this struggle by themselves. With Bucks County having such a high incidence of Lyme, you certainly aren't alone! We will work to inspire each other to spread the word about this dangerous and under-reported epidemic. We have the power to enlighten and educate our doctors, friends, acquaintances, and even legislators. Every one of us knows of diagnosed, undiagnosed and misdiagnosed Lyme Disease sufferers!
How can you help? Speak with everyone you can, start a conversation in the grocery store line, at your child's school or at the bank. Basically that’s how I first heard about LD and that conversation ended up saving my son-in-law’s life. Together we can do more to push for better testing, treatments, prevention and raise public awareness. I feel strongly that if the true number of infected people were known, the funding would become readily available for more accurate diagnostic tools and better treatments. Lyme Disease is often a confusing and difficult disease to treat and live with. Our group will help provide information about different ways to get relief... from finding Lyme Literate doctors, to holistic remedies. Everyone is welcome to come share their story, learn from each other and become inspired and comforted.
